Purpose and Objectives

FOREVER FAMILIES: The After Adoption Connection, a Green Acres Baptist Church care group for adoptive families, began September 13, 2005.  The group meets several times monthly.

Adoptive families, especially stay-at-home moms, often feel isolated because of many changes that occur after bringing their children home.  The family dynamics, schedules, and friendships are also affected.  They face multiple challenges including:

  • Introducing the children to God's love.
  • Establishing trust with them.
  • Planting in the kid's hearts a desire to dream.
  • Teaching them to respect authority.

In response to these families needs, this adoption support group was formed.  The main purpose of the group is to bring these families together for a time of fellowship and encouragement in an atmosphere of Christian love and understanding.  The meetings inspire families and equip them to become better parents and friends to one another.

The group is led by Paul and Zelia McGaha.  The McGaha family has six children including one daughter adopted from China in 2000 and a sibling group of three adopted from Brazil in 2003.
